It’s been 18 years since Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez entered the professional boxing scene. Having fought 63 bouts to register 59 victories in them, it is not surprising if the fighter is counted amongst the richest of the lot. With a staggering $200 million to his net worth, Canelo Alvarez knows a thing or two about spending his riches. While most of his league might spend their bucks in luxury cars and mansions, the fighter has taken a leap beyond these mundane possessions.
The Mexican fighter is known to charge the bomb of a payday when it comes to his fight nights. And why not? Having his name associated with a fight is just enough to pull the crowds into the arena. While most speak vividly about the possessions he holds in his kitty, not a lot is known about the animals he keeps as pets in his backyard. A lion among them, or so he jokes.

Does Canelo Alvarez Own a Lion?
When folks talk about the things they have procured from the riches they have, many would bring a list with them. Most such lists would host their mansions, cars, watches, and whatnot. Alvarez too holds such a list. But adding to this list is the array of exotic animals he has. A ranch that he owns in Mexico houses a stellar bunch of 30 horses.
Further, he is also known to have Persian cats that are pretty expensive in the market. Adding to this intimidating list of really expensive animals, he also has a pet dog that he calls ‘The Queen’ worth about £116,000.
When he boasts of such an expensive portfolio of animals around him, one would totally buy it if he said he also owns a lion. Well, that’s the premise on which he placed much of his jokes. In a conversation on the Full Send Podcast, the fighter revealed that for a long time, he would joke around with people claiming that he housed a lion.
Canelo revealed, “I joke with people who went there. Hey, there’s a lion outside. Be careful. Everybody’s scared, looking for the lion.” Jokes aside, Canelo can surely afford a lion if he ever wanted one, especially considering similar purchases made by other boxers in the past.
Racehorses and Watches, a fancy life for Canelo
According to reports, the fighter has about $200 million tied up in multiple avenues. And most of them include assets that would send shivers down the spine for many. An impressive count of 35 thoroughbred racehorses. He also has a penchant for luxury watches. He owns more than 20 exclusive models that range from $15,000 to $600,000. The brands include Rolex, Richard Mille, and Roger Dubuis.

His automobile collection is one that would give any millionaire a run for their money. A McLaren P1, Bugatti Chiron, Lamborghini Gallardo, and a Porsche 911 GT3, his garage reeks of luxury. Adding to this is his $6 million San Diego Mansion and $60 million Black Yacht.
