Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson were two heavyweight titans who towered over all other heavyweights of their era. However, they were not rivals, in fact, far from it. In numerous instances, ‘Iron Mike’, has credited his success to the ‘Greatest,’ and looked up to him like the rest of us. Their relationship was not just confined to one another, but also their families.

Muhammad Ali’s Daughter Rasheda Ali, an advocate for the fight against Parkinson’s disease, has known Tyson personally since her teenage years. However, it grew apart when the two were living in distinct places. While talking to Kenny Ducey for the EssentiallySports fan cast, she revealed her relationship with the former heavyweight champion and his influence on her kids.

When Rasheda Ali and her family moved back to Las Vegas after many years, they connected with Tyson again. Reflecting on the same, she stated, “I have known Mike since High School. So I have known Mike for a long time and he has been in my father’s life. They are good friends. He has always been supportive of our family.”

She later added, “He stayed in contact with my dad. And when we moved to Las Vegas, we reconnected again with Mike.” In addition, Mike has not just played a paramount role in her life but also in her kids. She has two sons, Biaggio Ali Walsh, and Nico Ali Walsh, and both of them are in combat sports.

She revealed his influence on their lives, stating, “He became kind of a role model and an inspiration to my kids who are clearly boxers but it’s been kind of a huge honor for someone like Mike who’s gone through so much with his in his life to be able to embrace the boys and in their careers.” Tyson even made an appearance at Nico Ali Walsh’s amateur fights, according to Nico.

When asked about where they think Mike Tyson ranks in the greatest boxers list, Nico had some opinions on it. “I think Mike’s amazing. He’s one of the greatest heavyweights, but I wouldn’t put him above my grandfather,” stated Nico.

Today, Mike Tyson continues to be a great friend to them even after Muhammad Ali’s passing. In the tapestry of boxing history, the alliance and camaraderie between Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson remain an extraordinary testament to the bonds forged beyond the gloves, proving that the impact of true sportsmanship can echo through generations.
