It may not have turned out the way he wanted. But Conor Benn eventually won the Matchroom headline in Las Vegas on February 3. Given his legacy, fans in the United Kingdom might have taken notice of his latest exploit. But in the United States? As it appears, not many caught sight of the fight taking place right in their backyard. Instead, for a few, the DAZN-streamed event apparently became a jumping board for playful banter and verbal sparring.
After his title defense against Chris van Heerden, for over a year, Conor Benn had been entangled in a failed drug testing scandal. It seems like he still can’t fight in the United Kingdom. Hence, his comeback fight happened across the pond last year at the Caribe Royal Orlando. Reportedly, he thought of winding up the Peter Dobson fight with a first-round knockout. Instead, the American boxer took him the whole distance. That was enough ammo for a bête noire with whom ‘The Destroyer’ has had an acrimonious exchange in the past.

“No one in the US is watching boxing at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.” Renowned trainer Kevin Cunningham highlighted it innocuously. New York-based promoter and matchmaker Rick Glaser tried to make it a bit clear that the event was basically made for people residing in the United Kingdom. More so, it is streamed by DAZN, which provides service across several countries.
Kevin, the event was made for the UK market, & Worldwide. There are 161 countries DAZN is in. U.S. is just one country. Hope this helps for a better perspective.

Probably Errol Spence Jr. saw an opening to launch the first salvo at Conor Benn. He straightaway asked, “Who fought?” Now, let’s not forget that it might as well be a completely innocent poser from the former world champion.

But then, roughly a minute later, his attesting to a cryptic confirmation might give some clue. Especially, it should become a bit clearer when one of the responders shared a meme with pictures of all known British boxers, right from Amir Khan, Tyson Fury, and Billie Joe Saunders, with Conor Benn as the centerpiece.

Incidentally, last year, as his case followed, Conor Benn received his first clearance from the WBC. He then wasted no time in calling out the New York-born Southpaw for a fight. It followed a few comments Spence Jr. reportedly made about the British welterweight. However, as it turned out, Errol Spence Jr. moved on and fought Terence Crawford for an epic on July 29 and suffered his first career defeat. Benn had to follow for a few more months until he got his chance in September, but he was far away from home.
