Eddie Hearn has few words for Deontay Wilder, and it is not pleasant. The former WBC heavyweight champion will make his return to the ring this Saturday night against Joseph Parker. Intriguingly, his old rival, Anthony Joshua, is also fighting on the same card as the main event against Otto Wallin.

The word in the boxing world is that if Joshua and Wilder are victors in their respective fights, then the two will face each other in their awaited clash. However, in a recent turn of events, the CEO of Matchroom Boxing backs his fighter, ‘AJ,’ and shares a brutally honest take on the Bronze Bomber.

According to Hearn, Joshua is a far more accomplished boxer than Wilder. While comparing the résumés of the two, Eddie Hearn stated, “I don’t feel like his resume is anywhere near to the levels of an Anthony Joshua. You talk about a guy, that, I don’t know how many fights he’s had, I don’t know, something like 40 fights. Tell me the elite heavyweights that he’s beat!”

His underlying premise relies on the claim that Wilder has not faced many formidable heavyweights except for Luis Ortiz, and even Ortiz, he deemed old. “I don’t feel like Luis Ortez is an elite heavyweight. I guess you could argue it. But other than that, show me a victory in Deontay Wilder’s career. It doesn’t exist,” stated Hearn.

Hearn even went on to state his belief that any of the top heavyweights could beat Deontay Wilder. “The reality is, I think he can get beat by anybody in the top 10, but I also think he can beat anybody in the top 10,” claimed the Matchroom CEO. One may agree or disagree with his comments, but it cannot be denied that Hearn has his favorite and does not shy away from making it known.

Moreover, these comparisons will be put to rest once the two get into the squared circle and throw down. But, until then, let’s take a look at Johusa making a bold claim ahead of his potential fight against Wilder.

Joshua on his potential matchup against Wilder

Their fight is not made official. However, Joshua believes that the two will meet each other in the ring without much hindrance. That is because he acknowledges that Wilder and he welcome this contest. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “I’ve not shied away from the fact I want the Wilder fight. He’s keen, too. When two fighters want to get into the ring, it usually happens.”
