The renowned British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn recently made a blatant claim that sent ripples in the boxing world. According to him, she still has some curves for learning but her boxing prowess is fantastic. However, according to him, when it comes to Featherweight, they have to chase Amanda.

Hearn said, “Amanda Serrano is an incredible champion and she’s been there and done everything in sport. And Skye’s still learning, but she’s got fantastic skills. And she’s going to be awkward for a lot of those. You know, she’s going to probably perform better against the more skilled fighter. But you know, as a Featherweight, you have to chase Amanda Serrano. There’s no disrespect from all these fighters. They want the best in the division. And the best in division is Amanda Serrano”

Amanda Serrano will defend her IBF, WBA, and WBO featherweight titles against Danila Ramos next month in Florida. The fight will take place on 27th October, 2023. Furthermore, The fight will feature 12 three-minute rounds, a first for women’s title fights, matching the men’s format. The change is overdue and will transform women’s boxing.

As per renowned viewpoints, the old 10 two-minute rounds limited strategy. The 12 three-minute rounds will add tactical depth, letting fighters think and adapt more. This will make fights more engaging for viewers. This shift is a game-changer for the sport. Fighters will need a new training approach to last 36 minutes with 11 minutes of rest, compared to the old 20 minutes with nine one-minute breaks.
