Eddie Hearn admires Callum Smith in post-fight interview

In the talk right after the bout, Hearn mentioned the achievements that Callum Smith has had and the accolades he has accrued over his long career. He said, “You know he’s done everything in the sport really he’s won world titles, he’s won ring magazine championships, he’s won British and European titles,” listing down all of Smith’s achievements throughout the years.

Hearn proceeded to credit Smith, saying, “He hasn’t really taken a lot of punishment in his career. That was quite punishing tonight, but still like, it’s not like he’s been knocked out unconscious,” referring to the fact that he has never been knocked unconscious.

Both Canelo Alvarez and Beterbiev have beaten Smith, but neither of them managed to knock him out unconscious. Hearn went on to mention how Smith wants to win a world championship sometime this year. However, he will have to wait for Bivol vs. Beterbiev to finish, according to the British promoter.

Hearn confirmed, saying, “You got the Bivol fight which is gonna take place at some point this year so, you’re going to be waiting for a while.” The Matchroom promoter went on to explain how inactivity affected Smith’s performance a bit as he did not get to fight even once in 2023. While there is bit of a question over who Callum Smith goes against next, things are all but set for Artur Beterbiev.
