Most boxers such as Anthony Joshua have an array of contenders they would want to go against, and that marks the peak of their career. An opportunity to be paired against the best of all their contemporaries is hardly possible these days. With more fights collapsing lately than fights occurring, the boxing ring seems to be barren with a head-to-head battle. A lot of these matches have fallen flat this year, mostly owing to the failure of reaching an amicable deal to split purses. One such example could be that of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. However, a fighter can still aspire to fight the biggest of his contenders to become the last man standing in the ring.
Anthony Joshua seems to have three names in his mind when it comes to his boxing aspirations. AJ has claimed the top name in the combat sport after having one of the best records in boxing history. The man has 25 victories out of which 22 came from knockouts. He also holds 9 wins in world championship titles. As he prepares for his next fight with one of the people he envisioned a clash with, he still hopes to cross the other two from his checklist.

Anthony Joshua has listed three fighters in his dream list. Starting with Dillian Whyte, followed by Deontay Wilder, and then Tyson Fury. He has however checked the first name off his list, as he prepares for his bout against Dillian Whyte. The two will fight it off on the 12th of August in the O2 Arena of London. His fight with Fury did not come to fruition but he has not erased his hopes for the fight.

Speaking about his fight against Tyson Fury, AJ said if it were him, he would have gone ahead and taken on a stronger opponent which Fury declined to do. Further not indulging into the subject, Joshua concluded by saying, “Yeah, it would be [dream scenario be Whyte, Wilder, and then Fury]. But dreams are fake. This is reality.” If Joshua does excel in this bout, he will next perhaps face his old rival Deontay Wilder in December and hopefully Tyson Fury in the first half of 2024.
Not the first time Whyte and Joshua will face each other
Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte have known each other longer than the first time they fought each other. It was 14 years ago when the two entered the ring against each other. In 2009, at the amateurs, Whyte gave AJ his first defeat in what now seems like a long face-off between the two. Later, in 2015, the two saw each other again in the ring for a Heavyweight title fight. Then, AJ avenged his previous defeat by winning over Whyte in a ferocious knockout.

This year, as the two gear themselves to enter the ring for yet another time, their rivalry enters the third chapter to which global conversation has always been amok. There is a lot on the line for both the boxers. A loss for Whyte would mean that his career as a boxer would be deeply questioned despite his other superior wins. But if AJ loses, this could derail his journey to be the Greatest Of All Time.
