A bizarre incident took place inside the octagon in 2021. During the bout in Russia, two combatants were going at it and putting it all on the line. However, the contest did not last long after a fighter landed a clean right hand and knocked down his opponent. A couple of hammer blows later, the fighter was knocked out cold. However, a peculiar thing occurred. In a daze, rising up after the devastating knockout, the defeated MMA fighter started attacking the referee. Intriguingly, he kept holding on to the referee. At that moment, the referee did not shy away from defending himself and had him in a guillotine choke.

A few moments later, the fighter was unconscious and the referee freed him.  At the time, this sequence of events went viral in not just the world of mixed martial arts but also combat sports as a whole. Jeffries had a promising career in the sport. In the 2008 Summer Olympics, the 38-year-old won a bronze medal. However, his career did not last long. In 2012, he was forced to retire due to a devastating hand injury. However, that did not stop his association with the sport. The 38-year-old is a boxing coach and analyst. On his Twitter account, he boasts more than 40,000 followers and has almost 2 Million subscribers on his YouTube.

In a recent turn of events, the retired boxer reacted to the time the referee choked out a fighter after he was defeated. According to him, the referee was simply in the wrong and found it ironic that he resorted to getting violent with an individual he was supposed to protect. He also had some strong words for the referee, to say the least. He stated, “That was disgusting by the referee. The referee is in there to try to protect someone. Now, I know this guy got hit. Got hurt. And he didn’t know where he was and he started attacking the referee thinking that was his opponent.”
