Anthony Joshua found himself in a rut as he suffered defeat after defeat at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk. However, AJ managed to finally receive a bit of relief after his most recent victory against Jermaine Franklin. Although the victory wasn’t as clean as people wanted it to be, Joshua appears to be pretty confident as he has also agreed to a December bout against Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia.

However, as the odds are stacked against him, Joshua needs to prove himself against a good fighter. He picked Dillian Whyte as the preparation fight before going against Wilder. The fight appeared to be all set but fell apart leaving boxing fans stunned. Whyte has revealed the reason for this fight falling apart.

Dillian Whyte recently appeared on talkSPORT Boxing explaining his side of the situation. Both boxers were all set to face each other eight years after their initial clash in 2015 on August 12. However, the fight fell apart, and Eddie Hearn stated that it was Whyte who turned down the offer for the fight due to financial reasons. But contrary to the statement made by Matchroom’s Hearn, Whyte has claimed that Joshua’s side was never interested in the fight in the first place.

He told talkSPORT, “The fight’s just collapsed, there’s been no communication on the fight.” Furthermore, he pointed out how weird he found it, he claimed that the fight “never seemed real from the start”. He pointed out how AJ is currently in a transition process and thus not looking for a “serious fight”. However, he added that it seems they are trying to “keep his name good and make it look like he’s trying to have big fights.” Whyte appeared angry over apparently being used as a scapegoat.

Dillian Whyte also spoke about how he found Hearn’s behavior a bit different this time around too. He stated that his team has been trying to contact the British promoter for a month now, trying phone calls and emails. However, they didn’t receive any reply from him. He pointed out, “I’ve been negotiating with Eddie Hearn for years, I know when Eddie wants a fight, he calls you, he bugs you. I haven’t spoken to Eddie Hearn for one month.”

Despite the setback, he claimed that he is still preparing to face Joshua. However, he didn’t hold back in criticizing Hearn for the lack of transparency during the negotiations. ‘The Body Snatcher’ claimed, “If they wanted to fight me, Eddie Hearn could’ve made the fight”. Joshua is currently set to fight Deontay Wilder later this year at a much-anticipated event in Saudi Arabia. This event will also feature a potential Heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. It must be noted that Whyte remains steadfast in his training, eager for another shot at Joshua.
