What goes around does come around, for real. Increasing reports have been confirming a deal closed between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney for an April 20 face-off. Given the star value of both boxers, it’s news worth rejoicing about. However, the headline aside, fans, it seems, are getting treated to an all-together different act.
Only last month, scores of fans had their hearts broken when they received the news that Ryan Garcia wouldn’t be fighting Devin Haney. Instead, he will clash with Rolando Romero. It’s a different matter; neither that nor the subsequent talks for potential line-ups ever came to fruition. But as January inched towards closure, it became clear that the Garcia-Haney fight could be back on track. The duo will reportedly battle it out for Haney’s WBC light welterweight title in Las Vegas. The buzz around their highly anticipated showdown is sure to grow in the days to come. However, for the time being, it’s the clip of their interaction at Super Bowl Row that is grabbing the attention of many.

The Radio Row at the Mandalay Bay Convention in Las Vegas came alive a few hours ago. Though, for the most un-football reasons. Early in the morning, Ryan Garcia tweeted, “Devin is getting pi**ed by his dad; the pi*p sad to see. 4–20, he will be crying begging; please have mercy. Save your son, Bill.” Devin Haney duly responded back, challenging Garcia not to run away when they finally face each other. “I’d hate too f**k up this easy money. don’t turn around & run when we fight p**sy,” said’ The Dream’.

Garcia’s post had a video. The footage begins with ‘KingRy’ walking up in ‘The Dream’s direction. Decrying any pretense of friendship, the former called into question the involvement of the champion’s father. Especially the role he played.
Later, he called out the light welter champion ‘soft’ claiming that his father, Bill Haney, wouldn’t be able to bail him out this time. Haney countered that ‘KingRy’s was already beaten: “You’re really whacked in real life, though everybody knows you’re really whacked, ni**er you’re whacked.”
Then the talk veered off to the old sparring video between Abdul Wahid (formerly Gervonta Davis) and Devin Haney. The back and forth continued, until a push came from Ryan Garcia. Soon, a scuffle broke out.

No sooner had the security got them separated, an argument picked up between Bill Haney and Garcia. Once again, security had to step in to keep a charging Haney Senior away while Garcia walked towards the exit. Then there was a brief Devin Haney versus security, till finally everyone dispersed for good.
Given what happened to the talks of their first fight, fans must be hoping that fight doesn’t get jinxed this time. While Ryan Garcia is an established superstar of boxing, Devin Haney, recipient of a consecutive fighter-of-the-year award, has been making big waves with his superlative performances. Thus, a fight between the two is a sure-shot blockbuster.
