On November 25, we turn to the second chapter of the saga written by Chantelle Cameron and Katie Taylor. Dublin’s 3Arena will see crowds bustling with excitement, anticipation with tinges of angst as the two fighters enter the ring yet again to give a face to their long-standing boxing rivalry. Their November fight comes in the wake of Cameron registering her stellar victory against Taylor, who brought all her might to their initial April fight.
Cameron withstood her opponent’s pressures and inched towards victory with each shot she took. The latter, however, brought a crusade that sent a jolt of energy by the ring. But she failed to snatch the super-lightweight titles held by Cameron. Now, she takes a bid to redeem herself and retell this narrative on her own terms. In this pursuit, Taylor has activated the rematch clause in their contract. As we transition into their second fight, the fighters came face-to-face for the first time since their April showdown. What went down? A lot more than just the customary verbal jabs.

“Now I just gotta do it again,” Chantelle Cameron firm on repeating her victory
It’s not an easy win that Cameron registered against Taylor. When ‘II Capo’ Cameron entered the ring on fight night, she knew she was putting not just her titles on the line but her boxing career that she, oh so vehemently, fought for. She successfully defended her titles and her boxing undisputed title against a name like ‘Bray Bomber’ Taylor. Now, she knew she had completed an era in boxing.

In their first press conference ahead of their November clash, Cameron said, “It was the first fight where I’ve thought ‘wow, I’ve just beaten Katie Taylor’, whereas I’ve had other wins that haven’t really fazed me. I’ve always wanted the fight with Katie, and thought you beat Katie and you have kind of completed boxing.“
Having won all her 22 bouts, 6 through KO, Taylor saw her first defeat against Cameron. This was a possible knell for her undefeated record. But a moment of sheer pride for Cameron. Their initial fight has already laid the premise for their second fight.
Speaking of the same, Cameron added, “Because she’s such a good fighter. That’s been done and now I just have to do it again. It’s just about improving and being better, so that’s changed my mindset.” While the spirit of redoing what she did back in April governs Cameron, Taylor is not one to go without giving a fight.
An underdog or not, Taylor’s aim? Victory!
After having lost her initial bout against Cameron, Taylor is now seen as the underdog by many. But the game has seldom abided by popular predictions. At the end of the night, it all comes down to who brings the most lethal crusade to the ring. Taylor echoed this sentiment. She said, “It doesn’t matter to me whether I am seen as the underdog or the favorite, whether my name is on the left or right-hand side. My mindset is always the same. We always train to win and I will have to push myself to the brink to do that.”

A rematch generally puts the one who activates in a position to prove themselves. The burden of proof lies on their shoulders, and Taylor sees this. She added, “I have no problem being in the trenches, the last fight was a fantastic fight, it was very, very close, we have the chance to do it again and I am very, very confident that if I perform at my best I will win this fight. Regardless of who is on the other side of the ring, I think I win when I am at my very best.”
Come 25th November, both the fighters are expected to bring the best of their game into the boxing ring. This is the fight that will either make their career or break it. One amongst the two stands at the precipice of global domination. Watch this space as we bring you more revelations about the Chantelle Cameron and Katie Taylor fight 2.
