In the fast-paced boxing world, opinions change quickly. Moreover, regarding the potential bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, the viewpoints are diverse and evolving. As renowned, the Usyk vs. Fury bout was canceled after a massive fiasco. The reasons were blatantly financial negotiations, venue issues, and delayed responses. Where Oleksandr accepted a minimal 30 percent purse split against Fury, the bout still couldn’t manifest.

However, a former world champion made a bold prediction about Usyk days after his Daniel Dubois controversial fight. But who is this champion? What did he say? He is none other than George Groves. In a recent interview with Talk Sport, Groves revealed his opinion about the fight’s result. According to him, Oleksandr would have easily defeated ‘The Gypsy King.’

Why does Groves think Oleksandr Usyk would have defeated Fury?

In a recent tweet, posted by IFL TV, George has made his opinion quite clear. Indeed, he’s backing Oleksandr Usyk to win against Tyson Fury. He said, “I think he beats Tyson Fury. I think Usyk is the best heavyweight in the world right now.” Furthermore, he elaborated his inclination toward him saying that he has the prowess and needs Boxing IQ. According to him, he has the athleticism to cope with “Fury’s mind games.”

Groves also elucidated that Tyson Fury has been a “major attribute” for Usyk. As he says, “Everything else Tyson Fury has had has always been a major attribute for him that Usyk has seen before and can cope with.”

Furthermore, this endorsement follows Daniel Dubois’ controversial fight closely. The fight had questionable refereeing and dubious scorecards. “He beats Tyson Fury,” said the champion, heating up the debate even more. But why does this matter? This is because the former world champion has expert knowledge. He knows how to win big. Moreover, his appreciation isn’t just talk; it could change betting odds and fan views.
