Earlier this year, WBC announced that David Benavidez would be the mandatory contender for Canelo to defend his title. However, nothing has been set in stone, and there are rumors of Canelo even facing Jaime Munguía. So, while taking to Boxing Scene recently, the Phoenix native expressed his thoughts about the Canelo fight.
“Imma keep beating these guys, knocking ‘em down, and then a fight with me and Canelo is gonna be inevitable. He’s gonna have to see me one day,” said Benavidez. Later in the interview, Benavidez stated, “It’s gonna be one of the greatest fights in Mexican history. So, I’m looking forward to it.” However, the prospect of this fight seems realistic now that ‘The Mexican Monster’ has prevailed in today’s fight.
