Curmel Moton is finally ready to return this March and face his third opponent in professional boxing. Last year Floyd Mayweather implied Moton could return on the undercard of Mayweather vs. John Gotti III. However, under present circumstances, the 17-year-old will now return on the undercard of Keith Thurman vs. Tim Tsyzu on Amazon Prime. But, who will Moton face?

Earlier this year, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe announced Moton would be a title holder soon. As a result, they wanted him to have the toughest fights in his career. On that note, Moton’s next opponent has now been revealed.

Is Curmel Moton making his Lightweight debut?

On February 1st, Leonard Ellerbe told the boxing community that Curmel Moton was “definitely” going to fight on March 30th.  Besides calling Moton a “tremendous young fighter,” Ellerbe expected “major things of him“. Likewise, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions declared that Moton would have a very busy 2024 and become a champion within a year. Well, today, taking to Instagram, Moton confirmed he was facing a 21-year-old boxer.

As per his post, Curmel Moton will return against Anthony Cuba. As per BoxRec, Cuba is currently 21 years old and has had 9 professional fights at 135lbs. He made his professional debut in 2020 and has a record of 7-0-2. Additionally, he won three of his fights by way of a knockout. In his last fight, Cuba went against Angel Barrera on December 9th to win by UD. Since Cuba is a Lightweight fighter, Moton will likely make his debut in the 135 lbs division on March 30th.

And although Cuba has more experience than Moton in pro boxing, the latter promised to knock out Anthony. “3-0 3ko’s coming soon,” predicted the 17-year-old. While Moton is certain of his third pro win, Leonard Ellerbe, on the other hand, sees a top and improving boxer in the 17-year-old.

Leonard Ellerbe finds an exciting talent in Moton

According to Ellerbe, Floyd Mayweather deserves all the credit for spotting talent in Curmel Moton. As per him, Mayweather has been working with Moton since he the latter was a kid. In Ellerbe’s opinion, Mayweather “has done a phenomenal job building his [Moton’s] amateur career, and timing-wise with turning pro.” As a result, Ellerbe claimed they were confident about Moton who has sparred with Gervonta Davis.

Likewise, he concluded, “He’s just an exciting young talent who’s getting better and better every fight.
