Given the rapidity at which their conversations are taking place, fans could be forgiven if they are feeling a bit muddle-headed. The frenzied exchanges between Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, and Devin Haney took a new twist today. The Baltimorean butted in when Garcia and Haney traded jabs for a tentative showdown next year.
The current mix-up commenced when Ryan Garcia gave his two cents on title unification, tagging Devin Haney. Then, as is his wont, a deleted tweet from Gervonta Davis surfaced, thanks to talkSPORT‘s Michael Benson. It didn’t take much time before the new WBC light welterweight champion pricked the lightweight title holder. Save for any discussions about a fight, Davis has been sticking his nose to almost everything said, ‘The Dream.’

Ryan Garcia first tweeted around midnight. Though a big challenge, there was nothing in the rulebook to prevent Devin Haney from coming down to 140 pounds from 160. If he approached Gervonta Davis, then he might as well fall into the web of clauses. So first, he’d do away with Rolando Romero in March next year. Then probably both Haney and him could lock on the title unification.
Devin Haney coming in over 160 from 140 is actually crazy! But Not against the rules!
Tank will not fight you without the clauses!
After March when I get this title from rolly we will unify on a special date how does that sound @Realdevinhaney

But it seems the ‘Tank’ was lying in wait for the right time to ambush. He jutted out as Michael Benson’s screenshot showed, “Do you want me to beat ya a** again…Becuz it was easier than taking candy from baby g.”

In the meantime, Devin Haney took notice of Ryan Garcia’s parting shot and slammed a rejoinder that belts were perhaps never an issue. Hence, they should immediately proceed with a fight.
I thought belts didn’t matter? Let’s do it now https://t.co/ySueP7hyHk

A few minutes later, he took on Gervonta Davis as well. Calling the WBA lightweight champion a ‘tweet deleter,’ Haney highlighted that doors for a big fight would soon be out of his reach. He will talk about everything but fight, said Haney.
Mr. Tweet deleter himself says everything but let’s fight.. come one little man the doors are closing in

The beef between Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney has been there for some years. But the latter’s resounding victory over Regis Prograis last week seems to have triggered the sudden change in gear, with both camps going at each other.

Just the other day, Bill Haney and Calvin Ford exchanged barbs during a podcast. Team Haney has made it clear on the catchweight and rehydration clause, it seems. Subsequently, a slew of claims and counterclaims followed. Gervonta Davis seems to have revealed a reported direct message from Eddie Hearn. In turn, Bill Haney shared about ‘Tank’ allegedly refusing to go with a $20 million offer they made to fight Devin Haney.
Ryan Garcia, on the other hand, finally saw his stakes rise with the knockout win over Oscar Duarte. All through the months, the shadow of the loss to Gervonta Davis loomed over the young Californian. Probably now, with a win in his kitty, he should be able to break open the shackles and find his voice in the new division.
