The year has had a rough start for boxing sensation Ryan Garcia as he finds himself without an opponent. Interestingly, after his fight against Oscar Duarte last year, he was looking forward to making a mega fight against Devin Haney. However, in a sudden turn of events, he decided to shift his focus to his former rival, Rolly Romero. Garcia wanted to fight Romero; however, amid the talks, he also shared his interest in Isaac Cruz. However, who would have known that his actions would come back so soon?

In a shocking turn of events, Romero and Cruz both joined hands to ditch Garcia and instead fight one another. And thus, Garcia was left without an opponent. However, between all the back-and-forth, the fans were left utterly confused about the fight, including the female undisputed middleweight champion, Claressa Shields.

In a surprising turn of events, Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero and Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz have agreed to a showdown on March 30 in Las Vegas, marking the co-main event of the first Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Amazon Prime Pay-Per-View.

Romero, who claimed the WBA junior welterweight title last May, has been out of the ring since, with his last victory sparking controversy and debate. Cruz, a top-rated lightweight, opted for the opportunity to face Romero, shifting from his pursuit of a Garcia fight.

Having last fought in July with a unanimous decision win, Cruz aims to make his mark in the junior welterweight division. But Claressa Shields is still confused about the fight, as was apparent from her recent message on social media.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote, “So is Rollie & Ryan fighting …… or Pitbull fighting Rollie? Its so much confusion out here”. Her confusion shows how messy the situation has become for the fans, who are unable to keep up with the ever-changing situation. Though, as of now, Romero still hasn’t stopped trolling Garcia.

Romero mocks Ryan Garcia ahead of his Isaac Cruz bout

Despite talks about a potential bout, negotiations fell through, and Romero appears unfazed. In response to Garcia’s recent comments, Romero emphasized the misalignment of perceptions, stating, “Ryan always thought it was Garcia Romero when, in reality, it was always Romero Garcia.” This highlights the shift in power dynamics now that the 25-year-old finds himself without a suitable opponent.

Romero didn’t stop there; he continued his taunts, suggesting Garcia should “go fight a tequila bottle and some xannies in April.” These words reflect Romero’s confidence and perhaps a hint of disappointment in Garcia’s approach to the situation.

The ongoing social media banter adds fuel to the anticipation surrounding a potential matchup. However, for now, Romero seems content with the verbal jabs, leaving fans curious about whether these words will eventually translate into actions in the boxing ring.
