Emanuel Navarrete showcased an immense display of heart and might during his last fight against Óscar Valdez this Saturday. The Mexican boxer managed to prevail over his compatriot after a baptism of blood, sweat and tears. With the victory, he managed to defend his WBO super Featherweight title. He managed to stand at the top of the division with this victory.

Though the boxer is also at the peak of the Featherweight and Flyweight divisions as well. This fight caught the attention of the whole boxing world. Even undisputed super Middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez came out and sent a message to the boxers involved.

The fight at the Desert Diamond Arena was brutal. ‘Vaquero’ started out the fight strong and held control throughout the majority of the bout. Meanwhile, Valdez only started his comeback toward the end of the bout. Nonetheless, the bout was surely hard-fought as was evident by the state of Valdez’s eyes at the end of it all. His eyes were so swollen that it left fans all around the world worried about him.

Notably, Canelo Alvarez and Valdez both are stablemates and share a trainer and gym, working under the trainer Eddy Reynoso. Prior to the bout, Alvarez reportedly advised his partner and friend as they prepared for the bout. And as the super Featherweight boxer suffered a devastating defeat, the Mexican icon even sent him a message on social media.

Alvarez posted a picture of the result being declared and wrote, “I’m with you through thick and thin and my @ oscarvaldez56“. In his message, he also congratulated Vaquero on his victory.

As Shakur Stevenson prepares to get his hands on the WBC Lightweight title after it will be left vacant by Devin Haney, he stated his willingness to have a bout with ‘The Cowboy’. He stated, “Yeah I wouldn’t mind it at all tbh.. Just gotta get this belt at 135 first and we can square up at a catch weight if he wit it“.

Moreover, the boxer in question also appeared unfazed when he was asked about his interest in the potential bout. He stated, “I’m not scared“. Though he must find himself outclassed by the former champion as his punches appear rather slow and his habit of telegraphing his long shots may get punished by Stevenson if a fight is made.

Overall, Navarrete achieved a tremendous victory this time and surely has a lot more attention on him now. Though it is still uncertain if he will end up fighting Stevenson later on.
