Canelo Alvarez is following in the footsteps of the man who handed him the first defeat of his professional career, Floyd Mayweather. The Mexican champion has a stacked resume, took on every opponent, and sits atop the boxing world. Now, he has turned his attention to the business side of things, and with every passing day, he becomes more like his American counterpart. At least, that’s what Showbizz The Adult believes.

The famed podcaster, in a short clip posted on his YouTube channel, drew a parallel between two boxers who fought each other in 2013. It came after Alvarez put a price tag of $200 million on his signature to fight David Benavidez. The podcaster then urged the “fanboys” of both fighters not to hate each other. He said, I don’t want Canelo fanboys now to hate on Floyd Mayweather ever again. Vice versa. Floyd Mayweather Fanboys can’t say sh*t negative about Canelo.” But why?

Canelo Alvarez following the Floyd Mayweather blueprint?

Showbizz believes Alvarez, 33, is doing what Mayweather did in his career: fight every opponent, build a stacked resume, and then use the resume to demand a hefty payout. “Because Canelo Alvarez is following the blueprint, the green print of Floyd Mayweather. He’s a wannabe Floyd Mayweather. So you Canelo Fanboys better be Floyd fans and start looking back at what Floyd did and say, ‘that was brilliant’,” he explained.

Showbizz continued, “Because Canelo wants to be just like Big Brother Floyd. Floyd Mayweather fanboys should be looking at Canelo, saying, ‘Canelo, that is the right way to do it because that’s how Floyd did it’.”

Mayweather was also avoided in the initial years of his career, but he soon added belts to his waist, put those on the negotiation table, and took home a larger share. Moreover, ‘TBE’ let some hyped fight stir for longer and then banked on the publicity to rack up millions. Similarly, Alvarez has put forth a demand, which many believe he deserves for fighting any opponent.

Mayweather himself believes Alvarez has nothing left to prove in the boxing world and, therefore, has defended the undisputed super middleweight champion’s decision to fight Jaime Munguia instead of David Benavidez. He has also backed Alvarez as a future Hall of Famer. These comments made the champion feel “special.”

Alvarez, at 60-2-2, told Little Giant Boxing: “I feel happy because he [Floyd Mayweather] knows everything. That was coming from him, who has been and done everything, so I feel special.”

It remains to be seen who meets Alvarez’s atrocious demand of $200 million to pit him against ‘The Mexican Monster’. Otherwise, he is happy to take on Jaime Munguia on May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, live on Amazon Prime PPV, and then wait out for his September opponent.
