Mike Tyson has lived a life on his own terms ever since he retired from pro boxing. He is one of those forces of nature in the sport that has constantly delivered an unhindered sense of inspiration to his fans. But to him, his journey goes way beyond just boxing and luxury. It is about being in the moment and close to his ideas of life. And one omnipresent element in that idea is his fondness for pigeons.

His fondness for these birds dates back to when ‘Iron Mike’ was merely 9 years old. He began petting them, and from there grew his journey in life with pigeons by his side. His love for the birds is so serious that he prioritizes them over certain human bonds, even over one of his girlfriends. He revealed that the woman ridiculed him for having the pigeons as pets and not, in fact, cooking them for consumption. She then went ahead to grab one of them, cook it, and eat it. And there went that relationship down the drain for him. As the years passed and he amassed this massive empire of a career, he kept his love for birds with him. He has often expressed his love for them on social media. More like aesthetic odes to them.

When we say that Mike Tyson is heavily protective of his pigeons, we do not oversell. He is ferociously protective of them. In one of his interactions about his birds, the ex-heavyweight boxer said that the first time he ever threw a punch was also for the sake of his pigeon. He further explained that a bully kid once ripped the neck off his bird. A riled-up young Tyson threw a fist at him to avenge the death of his bird.

Recently, he expressed his undying admiration for pigeons through his Instagram. He posted a rather aesthetic picture of him taken at his estate. In the background was a flock of his pigeons, majestically scaling the skies. He captioned the post, “Your flock is your stock”. His fans were quick to chime in. And some of these responses are absolutely wild.
