It seems like Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants to put behind the bitter memories of the recent exhibition match against John Gotti III. Not only did the year’s second bout end up on a sordid note as a no-contest, the ensuing melee stunned boxing lovers across the globe. Now, the undefeated former champion announced a new tour early today. And no, it’s not for another exhibition fight.

As part of his Motherland Tour, Mayweather Jr. plans to visit two African countries – Zimbabwe and South Africa. So beginning July 13 and the next day, he will spend at Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital. On July 15 and 16, he will spend the next leg of the tour in Johannesburg. He reached out to the vast multitude of his followers with the announcement. A plethora of reactions got cracking, besides the nearly 60k likes increasing by the minute.

One user on Instagram told Mayweather Jr. to bring his recently launched luxury champagne brand Le Bon Argent to Harare, Zimbabwe, “Bring Le Bon Argent champagne in Harare Zimbabwe. A user named Hadriel Heredia Hermosillo, in the meantime, used the opportunity to highlight that the former champion’s last fight against Conor McGregor shouldn’t be considered. Given his country’s power situation, a user named Lwanda Dana cautioned Mayweather Jr. to carry a power generator and candles. “Bring a generator with you, maybe some candles as well.” He said. Nate, who appears to be a big fan of Mayweather Jr., called him a warrior and said none could match him in boxing, “My chocolate mandingle warrior, nobody is better than u in da boxing game.” Meanwhile, Andy Grey appears excited about Mayweather Jr.’s visit and asks where to get a ticket. He badly needs to see his idol. He wrote, “Where can we get tickets😭 I wanna see my hero.”

It seems like a change after the FLA Live Arena’s fiasco should act as a good change for Floyd Mayweather Jr. Even the first fight of the year against reality TV star Aaron Chalmers received widespread disapproval from fans alike. Hence promotional tours in countries not much visible on the boxing map should augment well for the former world champion.
