The William Zepeda and Maxi Hughes fight card, it seems, will receive an addition per the latest available news. After that brilliant performance against Ricardo Torres in December last year, rising lightweight prospect Floyd Schofield is expected to be back at the ‘Sin City’s The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Chelsea Ballroom on March 16.
His promoter, former world champion, and now The Golden Boy Promotions chief, Oscar De La Hoya, updated his Instagram story some time ago. However, the name of his opponent for the upcoming bout remains a mystery.

“@kid_austin1 is back March 16 live from @cosmopolitan_lv,” wrote Oscar De La Hoya. Interestingly, a few days ago, through an Instagram post, Floyd Schofield spoke about the March 16th fight. The adversary’s name remained absent, though. Sharing how much he respects boxers of great caliber, such as Shakur Stevenson and Abdullah Mason, he expressed an interest in a bout against both boxers.

“Tune in March 16th, @daznboxing, to see why champions are running. I am joking. All respect to every boxer that gets into that squared circle. We have respect for them all. @shakurstevenson and @abdullah_mason are both great fighters. We look forward sharing the ring with them,” said Schofield.
Later, he requested that Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins send the contracts to the duo: “Send the contract to both fights. Shakur to @oscardelahoya @bhopdaalien. I can’t look past my next opponent, my 🇩🇴 brother…have to focus on that fight right now. I will see both of you in the ring soon. Send the contract easy money.”
Last year, Floyd Schofield took on Mexican boxer Ricardo Lopez Torres. They fought at the Ryan Garcia–Oscar Duarte main card on December 2. The fight was stopped in the first round after Schofield sent Torres down to the canvas for the fourth time.
And the list goes on
Early in January, Schofield thanked champion Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz for accepting the contract for an upcoming fight. However, the fight never came to fruition. Then last week, rumors of a fight with Dominican lightweight Esteuri Suero also came up.

Not long ago, ‘Kid Austin’ had reportedly called out Shakur Stevenson. But a potential fight against another rising star, Keyshawn Davis, also appears in the offing. A fight against the WBC lightweight champion might be a big payday for both New Jersey-born boxers.
However, given that both boxers are sitting on the cusp of a world title, a fight with ‘The Businessman’ makes more sense. More so since both the latter and De La Hoya, after their meeting not long ago, agreed that it’s a fight that should be made.
