Earlier today, Rafael tweeted, “Spoke to [Oscar De La Hoya], who said that [Haney-Garcia] will take place in Las Vegas, but there is no specific venue set just yet.” It’s worth mentioning that making the fight was no easy task. The path to a successful signing was marred with betrayals and boxing politics at its peak.

Previously, it looked like Garcia would fight Rolly Romero, but the latter decided to take on Isaac Cruz instead, a fight scheduled for March 30. Nevertheless, things are heading in the right direction for Garcia and Haney, as the pair will face each other for Haney’s WBC super lightweight title. And since finalizing the fight, the animosity between Garcia and Haney has only escalated.
