After Dan Rafael lamented the news of Showtime Boxing passing into history, Ryan Garcia urged “all boxers” to prepare for a “collective fight“. Besides acknowledging how HBO and Showtime defined the sport of boxing for decades, ‘KingRy’ announced the dire need for a new marketing strategy and audiences. “All us boxers need to make this our collective fight. We gotta be thinking about marketing, new audiences, investors, global, all of it,” the 25-year-old said on X. Following Garcia’s tweet, Terence Crawford declared he agreed with the former interim lightweight champion.

According to Crawford, the current system would barely fix the problem they have. In his opinion, the fighters must come together and think differently. “I couldn’t agree more. The system we have isn’t going to fix this. Look at every other sport is building empires by doing it right,” he said. According to ‘Bud,’ besides fighting inside the ring, the boxers must work together to maintain the sport and their families.

As Ryan Garcia and Terence Crawford spoke about unity, the founder of Most Valuable Promotions, Jake Paul supported the thought. Encouraging both Crawford and Garcia, ‘The Problem Child,’ enthusiastically added, “I’m all the way in“.

While Crawford, Jake Paul, and Garcia spoke about the unity among fighters, promoter Oscar De La Hoya saluted the $2.2 Billion network for their commitment to boxing. In addition, he asked his fellow promoters to join hands for the growth of the sport. Here is what he said.

Oscar De La Hoya salutes Showtime for their commitment to boxing

Taking to X, De La Hoya lauded Showtime for their adherence to a sport that ‘Golden Boy’ loves. While it is sad that Showtime is quitting boxing, De La Hoya announced he was hopeful for a better tomorrow. Likewise, he suggested the promoters “put our differences aside” and contribute to the growth of boxing. At this, Crawford, who roots for the fair treatment of athletes, reminded De La Hoya of the importance of the fighters.

Although he appreciated De La Hoya’s concern, Crawford, who held the view that boxing is one of the most corrupt sports, stated the growth of boxing wouldn’t be possible without the boxers “at the table”.
