In the wake of his victory over John Ryder, Jaime Munguia called out Canelo Alvarez. Considering a fight against Canelo Alvarez “great among Mexicans,” Munguia declared it would be an “honor” to be in the same ring as Alvarez. Soon, to Munguia’s satisfaction, Canelo accepted the challenge. And today, ahead of their upcoming match on May 4th in Las Vegas, Canelo Alvarez offered fans a glimpse of his training.

Without even looking at his target, Canelo effortlessly scored his punches. In short, the undisputed Super Middleweight champion displayed fluidity, accuracy, and a calm presence of mind. But, here is how fans reacted to the clip on X.

Despite initially claiming he would never box a fellow Mexican in the ring, Canelo Alvarez is now busy preparing for Jaime Munguia in “Mexico vs. Mexico!“. And although Munguia is undefeated with 43 professional wins, fans believe Alvarez is carefully choosing his opponents to preserve his legacy in the sport. Case and point, David Benavidez was the mandatory challenger for Canelo Alvarez in the super-middleweight division for almost two years before he decided to jump to light-heavyweight.  The 27-year-old boxer’s repeated efforts to make the fight happen failed. Although the matchup seems to be a fan-favorite, Canelo doesn’t think beating him would spruce up his boxing record.

“If I beat Benavidez, they’re gonna say, ‘Oh, why don’t you face this other guy?’ Look at my history, I’ve done everything in boxing. I’ve done it all,” Canelo had stated in an interview.

In this context, ahead of the match against Munguia, Canelo Alvarez decided to flex his skills with a reflex bag. Without even looking at the bag, Alvarez not only hit it but also dodged it effortlessly.

After Michael Benson posted the clip on X, a fan said it would have been better if Alvarez “was fighting Benavidez next” instead of Munguia.

Meanwhile, one referred to Alvarez’s fight against Floyd Mayweather in 2013. In this match, Mayweather out-landed Canelo by 24%.  Therefore, one said, “And yet couldn’t hit Mayweather.”

Meanwhile, one shared a photo of a duck wearing Canelo’s trunks since the Mexican boxer avoided fighting David Benavidez.

However, one is confident that Munguia will lose against Canelo.
