Canelo Alvarez has been the center of attention in the boxing world for the past few weeks. Recently, he signed a 3-fight contract with Al Hayman’s PBC and announced his first fight against Jermall Charlo for September. Alvarez had plenty of options with him but Charlo being his next opponent was not a popular one amongst the fans. Quite some things have been spoken about the size difference between the two. Charlo is currently the undisputed light Middleweight world champion and will move up and challenge for the undisputed super-Middleweight champion.
Meanwhile, Claressa Shields is not a fan of this match-up. Shields is a prominent figure in women’s boxing and transitioned to the world of MMA back in 2021. On Twitter, she does not shy away from being opinionated and recently weighed in on the upcoming super-Middleweight title fight. Given the size and weight disparity, Shields condemns the match-up. However, the fans are not in agreement with her and made that evident.
