CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe has issued clarifications after he came heavily under fire for a response to Gervonta Davis’ post that fans thought was rather insensitive.

Earlier, one of ‘Tank’s’ fans, Ray Jackson, had informed his following on X that his father was not well. While the entire community came together to wish his dad a speedy recovery, Tank too shared his words of comfort. In a standalone post, he wrote, ” Yo @RayJack97010720 keep ya head up bruv..” However, in what Ellerbe now suggests was an error, the CEO reposted Tank’s message with a laughing emoji that irked fans, with most calling him out. Now, with his clarification of what actually happened, fans might just think about giving him a pass.

As soon as Ellerbe had responded to Tank’s kind words for his fan, social media erupted in condemnation of his supposed lack of sympathy.

Rattled by the sensitivity of the matter, Ellerbe has elucidated that he responded to the wrong post with the wrong message. In response to another user who quizzed on what he found funny in Tank’s post, the CEO wrote, “That was for someone else we were talking about the Ravens putting the beat down on the 49ers.”

NFL team, Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers with a score in their favor of 19-33 at yesterday’s north division finals. While Ellerbe has since clarified that the reaction was a mistake, Ray Jackson, the fan whom Gervonta Davis responded to, has given further update.

Jackson posted on his X thanking supporters for their kind words. Without commenting on Ellerbe’s mistake, the staunch Tank fan wrote, “I really appreciate ALL OF YOU who took the time to reach out. Boxing Twitter has shown so much love the past couple of days. I appreciate yall prayers and encouraging words mane.”

Leonard Ellerbe has consistently shown unwavering support for Gervonta Davis and his boxing journey. He clarified that his response was not intended to harm the fighter or his fan base. The unfolding days will reveal whether Gervonta Davis addresses the issue further or if it becomes a matter that can be easily set aside.
