Devin Haney is busy preparing for his debut in a new weight class. He will be fighting southpaw Regis Prograis for his WBC super lightweight title on Dec.9 in San Francisco. However, the preparation for his bout against ‘Rougarou’ hasn’t stopped the undisputed champ from clapping back at his detractors. Haney is known for being ruthless with his remarks when it comes to his posts on X. ‘The Dream’ is recently involved in a bitter tussle with the former super featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson on X. Now it seems there might be another tussle brewing as well.
The beef between Haney and Stevenson began soon after Stevenson moved into the lightweight division. The division had been dominated by Haney for some time now. Since Shakur and Stevenson are both undefeated and in the same weight class, it’s only a matter of time before the two come face to face. The two have been raining expletives at one another on X with no respite. While this is happening, another one to enter the fray is American boxer Jamaine Ortiz. Haney recently hit out at Ortiz in a recent X post, and the latter decided not to take it lying down.

Recently, BoxingScene.com did an interview with Jamaine Ortiz. Before he fought Haney, Lomachenko had fought Ortiz in 2022, a fight which Lomachenko won by a unanimous decision. ‘The Technician’ made a reference to this fight with Lomachenko saying that according to him, his “fight was a lot closer” as compared to Haney’s fight with Loma in 2023. He said, “I felt like I landed a lot cleaner shots in my fight against Loma, and Devin Haney got hit a little too much in their fight.”
Ortiz, went on to add, “Loma landed a few clean shots on me towards the end of our fight, but he never landed flurries or threw 5 and 6 punch combinations the way he did against Haney.”
Ortiz said that he believes that his fight with Lomachenko was a lot tougher because he was a tougher opponent than Devin Haney which is what rubbed the champion the wrong way forcing him to hit out. Haney, enraged by this comment, went right for the jugular.
Haney and Ortiz Beef Officially Begins
A part of the interview with Ortiz, which was posted online, caught the attention of Devin Haney who thought Ortiz was taking shots at him. He immediately shot back at Ortiz. In a post, he wrote, “I felt you should’ve made weight in your last fight so you could get back n the winning column.”

This insult seemed to have caught Ortiz off-guard. Ortiz wrote back, “Fair enough champ I’m here now, let me know your availability after Prograis,” issuing a clear challenge to Haney that he wants to challenge for Haney’s titles.
