The showtime exit has left PBC to find a new partner to televise their events. Moreover, in the past few days, it was reported that Al Haymon is considering a deal with the OTT platform, Netflix. This revelation stunned many around the globe but a substantial section did not believe it, including a New York-based boxing matchmaker. The matchmaker is none other than Rick Glaser.
He has been providing services to professional boxing businesses worldwide since Mike Tyson‘s days. Not to mention, he has over 8000 followers on X and does not shy away from making his opinions known. In a recent tweet, he accused Al Haymon and PBC of spreading fake News and leaving the fans in chaos.

According to Glaser, there is no deal with Netflix and PBC and it is not in the works either. Moreover, he alleges that Haymon is trying to spread this news to gain leverage to get a deal from Amazon Prime. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “Being told by 2 solid sources in the know that this PBC to #Netflix isn’t true, as #Haymon/#PBC operatives floated this out there in an attempt to make a better deal with #AmazonPrime. The #Amazon deal is no money or guarantees, strictly PPV distribution & marketing. And that’s not a good deal. The fighters will find that out in the first quarter of 2024 that there’s no money any longer at PBC.”

Here is how the fans reacted:
One fan does not buy this take as he thinks there is no vested interest for Haymon in having any network.
I think everybody forgets that Al isn’t a promoter he’s a manager/ advisor. He’s going to get paid regardless of the networks PBC was just a banner

Meanwhile, one fan wonders why PBC cannot sign a deal with DAZN.

Moreover, one fan speculates why they won’t go to DAZN and it is because they want their absolute autonomy in match-making.
Haymon doesn’t want to go to Dazn because dazn wants match-making power as they should

Another fan would have appreciated had they signed a deal with Netflix.
It would be dope w Netflix

Last but not least, one fan thinks PBC has lost their goodwill since Manny Pacquiao retired.
PBC and boxing as a whole have tanked since @MannyPacquiao retired.

It is safe to say that the boxing world has reacted to this revelation and allegation in distinct ways. However, there is a unanimous sense of curiosity to see what happens next. Meanwhile, let’s take a look at how Showtime will prolong for one PBC signed fighter.
Showtime to televise 2 fights for this PBC fighter
Earlier this year, Undisputed super-middleweight champion signed a 3 fight deal, worth $100 Million with PBC. Over a month ago, he competed in the first fight of his contract which was televised by Showtime. However, showtime made an exit before he could compete in the last two bouts. That being said, it is reported that the boxing network would prolong to televise the reaming fights of the 33 year old.
@MichaelBensonn took to Twitter and stated, “Canelo Alvarez’s next two fights in 2024 will reportedly both still be broadcast by Showtime PPV in the USA, despite Showtime Sports shutting down at the end of 2023 – this had been previously agreed as part of his deal with Al Haymon’s PBC.”
After televising those last two fights on the contract, Showtime boxing would not televise any future cards. This changing landscape is an opportunity for promotions like PBC.
