Canelo Alvarez has recently sent a stern message to his doubters after his splendid performance against Jermell Charlo. Before the Charlo fight, many boxing aficionados criticized ‘Cinnamon’ for having supposedly lost his famed boxing prowess. This all started when Alvarez faced a devastating unanimous loss against Dmitry Bivol. So, he decided to bounce back in May 2023, as he faced John Ryder and won via unanimous decision. Still, Alvarez faced backlash for not knocking out his opponent.
However, in the recent ‘undisputed vs. undisputed’ clash, when Alvarez walked through Charlo quite easily, he gained back some respect. But there are fans who want to see him against tougher opponents like David Benavidez and even Terence Crawford. Recently, even the WBC Heavyweight champion talked about the prospect of Crawford vs. Alvarez.

After the Alvarez vs. Charlo fight was announced, the undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford wished to fight the winner of this bout. And now the fans have a lot of hope as Alvarez emerged as the winner in the clash of the undisputed. However, the rumors suggest that Canelo may be thinking of facing Jaime Munguia in May next year, and David Benavidez later in September 2024. Currently, there are no discussions happening about the Crawford bout. Still, in a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Tyson Fury was asked his thoughts on the fight. Fury stated that it’s an interesting matchup, and would definitely want to watch it. He also talked about how Crawford shouldn’t listen to anyone else, if he wants to move up in weight classes. Fury said, “Both of them are exceptional fighters and I’d be one of the people paying for the pay-per-view to watch it.”
Furthermore, in his thoughts about Crawford moving up three weight classes to 168, Fury talked about how the size wouldn’t really be a big deal between the two boxers. In fact, ‘The Gypsy King’ mentioned that Alvarez could also come down a bit.

Tyson Fury believes this fight holds a lot of potential to become one of the biggest mega events in boxing history. But, during the same interview, the reporter asked him if he thinks Crawford’s skills would be able to compensate for the weight change. To this, Fury said, “They’d be on the same weight, would they not? So, yeah maybe he’d bring Canelo down to 60 or 54 or something I don’t know. Yeah, I don’t know.”
Fury was then asked about his favorite boxer out of the two. Well, the WBC titlist didn’t say anything and decided to keep things neutral. He said, “I don’t really have a favorite. I like both fighters, both very different skill fighters in their own ways.” So, including Fury, the whole world deems this fight to be a 50-50 contest between the two undisputed champions of different divisions.
