It wasn’t easy for Devin Haney to make his upcoming fight against Ryan Garcia a reality! However, he eased his way into boxing’s pound-for-pound top-six rankings! In a recent pinch, the former undisputed champion turned to social media to react to the same!
In December last year, ‘The Dream’ Haney took on Regis Prograis and showcased his career-best performance, winning the fight via unanimous decision. The fight boosted him one spot to No. 6 on the pound-for-pound list, where he currently resides. So, when Boxing News Plus shared the ranking on social media, Haney did them a favor and pinned it in his Instagram story!

Haney wrote “Alhamdulillah” in his Instagram story, reacting to the rankings today! While some would say he deserves a better spot, given his last performance, his reaction suggests he is content with his position on the list. But for all the Haney fans out there, he might go up even more spots if he defeats Ryan Garcia on April 20 in Las Vegas.

However, it begs the question, who all are above Haney? As many would have guessed, Terence Crawford ruled the rankings, edging Naoya Inoue (at the second spot) after the latter’s last fight. Following those two, Oleksandr Usyk sits in the third spot in all his glory at heavyweight! Then there is Dmitry Bivol at fourth and boxing legend Canelo Alvarez at fifth. Rankings aside, here’s what Bill Haney said about the Ryan Garcia fight!

That’s mainly because of the very public altercation with Golden Boy Promotion’s Bernard Hopkins. However, Bill Haney credited Oscar De La Hoya for making things easier.

“Hey, let’s push all the politics to the side and know that Golden Boy has been…Oscar De La Hoya has been a pillar in the community representing boxing, representing the big events,” said Bill. “So it was only right to come to Oscar De La Hoya, the Golden Boy himself, and tell him, listen, you got Bill, you got Devin, you have Ryan, you got Henry [Garcia], let’s make this thing happen. We’d be fools not to right now,” Bill said.
