It’s been a dream run for 29-year-old Ohioan Alycia Baumgardner. On February 4, early this year, she defeated Elhem Mekhaled from France to become the undisputed super featherweight champion. Five months later, she returned to face old rival Christina Linardatou for the first title defense. Most fans might remember that the Greek boxer inflicted Baumgardner’s first career loss five years ago. It was payback time now. ‘The Bomb’ defeated Linardatou convincingly to retain her undisputed title.

But a month later, trouble rang in when reports of her testing positive for banned substances came in. Ever since the world champion has been on a crusade to clear her name of any wrongdoing. In between, she apparently underwent a series of independent tests. According to her, their outcomes demonstrated that she hadn’t utilized any performance-enhancing drugs. In between, a report published in a leading boxing portal, NYFights perturbed Baumgardner. After her initial remonstration against the corrigendum, the website reportedly appears to have come with a correction.

On November 25, Alycia Baumgardner first appreciated the reporter’s efforts in bringing out a detailed piece. However, she mentioned a major omission, among a few other oversights. She said, “Unfortunately, there were several inaccuracies, but one in particular was a BIG miss! Specifically, as I said in my post on 8/31, my initial statement was incorrect; the AAF showed ONLY a “Mesterolone metabolite,” as identified by its chemical formula.

Then, addressing the reporter, Baumgardner highlighted that had he gone through the test report disclosed by boxing writer Dan Rafael in August and other documents that the reporter apparently obtained without her permission, he would have realized that these facts were true. So, in other words, ‘Primo’ didn’t find a single mention in any of the tests she undertook.

She continued, “With that fact corrected in your piece, the argument that suggests my guilt, which half your article focuses on, falls completely a part.” Finally, while appreciating the reporter for a comprehensive post, Baumgardner mentioned that despite having all the necessary material, the reporter proceeded to publish statements that were not based on truth. Subsequently, she sought a corrected version of the piece within 24 hours. However, if she did not receive the corrected version within 24 hours, she mentioned considering a legal route as well.

It seems the new version of the article came up with an EIC note. It read, “An earlier version of the story contained references to methenolone acetate. As Baumgardner is insistent that any mention of that substance is immaterial, this version of the story reflects her stance.

In her latest post that came up early this morning, speaking about the story, Alycia Baumgardner said that the team acknowledged the errors she pointed out. They accepted responsibility and corrected the issue. Then, once again appreciating the article, she encouraged everyone to go through it. Finally, her closing statement read, “But regardless of what it says, be rest assured, the work my team and I have done on this has proven my position beyond a shadow of a doubt… the science doesn’t lie…. VINDICATION!”

The article titled ‘Alycia Baumgardner Vs. PED Positive, Champ Fights Back,‘ towards the end mentioned what could be in store for Baumgardner in the end.

A remarkable repertoire

It’s been six years since ‘The Bomb’ commenced her professional journey. Within such a short time, she made a name for herself by winning world titles. Despite losing a fight to Linardatou barely a year after her debut, Baumgardner quickly recovered and went on to win the WBO and IBO super featherweight titles in 2021. She hasn’t looked back ever since, adding more belts to her kitty. Most fans must be looking forward to her tribulations getting over at the earliest possible time so that she can focus on upcoming fights.
