Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion, will fight boxing world champion Tyson Fury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on October 28. Earlier this year, Ngannou left UFC and gave up his heavyweight title to explore opportunities beyond mixed martial arts. He will make his professional boxing debut against a formidable opponent. Despite this, Fury is not underestimating him.
Fury has an unbeaten record and is on a six-fight winning streak. His recent victories include wins over Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte, and Derek Chisora. During their face-off, Fury said that his past struggles and sacrifices, such as turning down a lucrative UFC contract, had made him confident in his abilities. ‘The Gypsy King’ has even revealed how he is preparing for his fight with the MMA star.

Tyson Fury is putting in extra work just for Ngannou
In a recent interview with TNT Sports Boxing, Tyson Fury revealed that he is training for 12 weeks instead of his usual six. He professed that he usually trains for six weeks when fighting opponents like Wilder, White, or Chisora. He said, “This is why I’m putting in a 12-week training camp instead of the usual six-week camp, which I usually do for opponents like Wilder, Whyte, or Chisora.”
Fury seems to be giving ‘The Predator’ his full attention because Ngannou is not a traditional boxer. Since Ngannou comes from a different background, Fury believes he needs to prepare more. According to him, traditional boxers throw punches from predictable angles, but Ngannou’s style is awkward. His punches may come from unexpected directions.
He further added, “I’m giving Francis 100% focus because he’s not a traditional boxer and comes from a different background. I have to prepare more. With normal boxers, I can anticipate the punches coming from the same angle, but with his awkward style, they might come from different directions. That’s why I’m training as hard as I can.” Thus, Fury needs to be prepared for every scenario that may come his way.
