One of the year’s most significant fights took place last Saturday. Canelo Alvarez shook off Jermell Charlo‘s challenge and remained the Super Middleweight division’s undisputed champion. Another big contest is coming by this month’s end between Tyson Fury and former UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. With the year nearing its end, notable fights remain to enthrall fans and followers.

But outside of the upcoming line-ups, there’s always a desire to see that one match most die-hards would kill to watch. The list doesn’t close with one, whether within the divisions or without. There’s a dream duel fans want to see for the sheer thrill of witnessing two of the biggest names exchanging blows within the squared circle. But is the phenomenon restricted only to boxing lovers? What about those who pursue an interest in other sports? For one, three-time NBA All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns knows which bouts he wishes to see.

@insideboxinglive shared a post recently. It featured Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Karl-Anthony Town sharing his views on some matches he would love to watch. So the host asked, “You could be a matchmaker for a day in boxing. What’s the one fight you’d make?” Anthony Towns clarified that he would first like a face-off between two of the most famous names in the Lightweight division.

Taking Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis‘ match-up case, he said, “Shakur versus Gervonta, the other one would be Canelo versus Bud. And if I could see another one, just because I personally want to see it, and it’s been hyped for a long time, and it just never gets done. I want to see Anthony Joshua versus Wilder.

Soon, a series of comments came up. One user postulated respective winners from Anthony Towns’ list. Between Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis, they chose Davis. Then Terence Crawford was their pick if the Welterweight champion fought Canelo Alvarez. Finally, for the Heavyweights, the user favored Anthony Joshua to win over Deontay Wilder.

Then there were other alternate lists: Alvarez versus David Benavidez, Crawford versus Jaron Ennis, and Wilder versus Andy Ruiz Jr. One of the followers wished for a Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev slugfest.

A close perusal would show that the line-ups Karl-Anthony Towns mentioned run typical for all boxing enthusiasts. Stevenson is a new entrant at 135 pounds; whether he will get a chance to go against one of the faces of boxing, time alone can tell. Otherwise, the buzz around fights such as Joshua-Wilder and Alvarez-Benavidez has been going around for some time.
