Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios explored the possibility of participating in doubles with retiring star Carla Suarez Navarro.

Navarro is currently amidst her last professional tennis season, post which she will put an end to her storied career.

Kyrgios revealed that he had actually discussed the possibility of teaming up with Navarro.

Kyrgios was ecstatic about the possibility of teaming up with the Spanish veteran.

“Definitely. We’ve actually been talking about it a lot. I’ve actually asked her like three or four times. She shuts down every time. I think it’s because she goes deep in singles. I don’t really want to hamper her performance at all. But if she’s willing to play, I’ll definitely play. She’s amazingly talented. I think we could do well. I think we’d have a lot of fun.”

We’ll be lying of we say that the prospect of Kyrgios and Navarro teaming up is not exciting. With the buckets of energy that characterizes both their games, the sheer intensity on the court will make for an interesting watch.

Considering that Navarro is in the final stages of her career, it will also serve as a fair sendoff for the Spanish star.

While Nick Kyrgios was able to advance to the third round, Navarro had to unfortunately depart from the tournament.

On the other hand, Navarro had to bow out of her final Australian Open. She lost to Iga Swiatek 6-3,7-5. The Polish tennis player was 13 years younger to Navarro.
