Former World No. 1 Roger Federer has honored fans over all these years with monumental performances. The manner in which the Swiss commands respect on the court seems second to none. The connection Federer has with his fans holds a special place in his life.

Time and again he has stated that his fans are one of the biggest reasons he continues to play. With time gone by, 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer has always made his fans feel warm with his little gestures.

Just upon receiving an autograph sends fans into a frenzy. It’s understandable for them to be feeling in such a manner, considering the aura around the Swiss maestro.

Amongst the older generations, Roger has a considerable amount of fan following. Recently, the former Wimbledon champion won hearts with a remarkable gesture.

It involved wishing a grandmother on the occasion of Christmas and her 100th birthday. Federer sent her a greeting card signed with his best wishes.

Made appeals via social media to get in touch with Roger Federer

While speaking to one of the woman’s grandchildren, Victoria Campenhout, she said, “We made appeals via social media. With photos of the grandmother who was watching a Federer game in the retirement home.

“And we wrote to the Swiss Tennis Federation. This newspaper then decided to give it a try. We eventually got to manager and father Robbie Federer. He promised to send his son’s card and kept his word.”

It’s little gestures like this that mean the most to people. For an individual of Federer’s stature, to do such acts on a regular basis is what makes him so adored.

While speaking with the woman herself, Maria-Louisa, she said, “This really made my day a good one. Because it’s a lonely affair. I can’t believe he wrote that card just for me. 

“You know, I also met my husband at the tennis club at the time. That sport has already brought me a lot of beautiful moments.”

Coming back to matters on the tennis court, we look forward to seeing Federer return to action in Melbourne. The 6-time Australian Open champion will be a part of the 2021 edition.
