While Activision and Treyarch have finally revealed Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War as the name of their upcoming title. The next question on everyone’s mind is if zombies will feature in it. Starting in CoD: World at War, the zombie mode has become a fan-favorite.
100 Thieves member Noah recently posted a tweet with a list of features that could make the zombie mode a success in the upcoming title.
What Black Ops Cold War Zombies needs to be great:
1) Guns actually kill zombies past round 25
2) Old perk system with map specific perks (like BO2)
3) Easter Eggs/Buildables with less RNG
4) Double Packed guns are actually good for high rounds
5) BO3 slide-hopping movement

100T’s Noah suggests features for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Zombies
The feature that catches the eye first is the ‘old perk system with map-specific perks in zombie mode.’ This feature helps to maintain a variety in the gameplay. It is also the feature that made the zombie mode in Black Ops 2 so enjoyable. The old perk system in BO2 was pretty balanced and kept the gameplay meta away from saturation.
Along with this, Nova wants double packed guns that give players an edge for high rounds. The Pack-a-Punch has been one of the most essential components of the zombie modes. These machines allow the players to choose alternate ammo for their current weapon.

Of buildables and Easter Eggs
Nova also mentions ‘Easter Eggs’ and ‘Buildables’ as features that devs can add in the mode. Many maps in various Call of Duty zombie modes contain these mechanisms. First seen in Black Ops, these mechanisms occur all over maps and help players fight the undead and accomplish other objectives. Turbine, zombie shield, and turret are just some of them.
Nova says that these should occur less randomly, across maps. Rather, they should have more specific regions of occurrence.

To be honest, it would benefit players a lot since zombie gameplay gets a little chaotic, anyway. Along with this, he says that devs can include the slide-hopping movement from Black Ops 3.
It will really be something if Treyarch takes Nova’s suggestions into account. After all, these are the features that have made the zombie modes enjoyable over the years.
