A Warzone player on spotting (hearing) the easter egg posted it on his YouTube channel in March. In case you want to check it out, here it is.
Well, it seems, reports of the howling noises have been there since mid-March, so it implies the easter egg has been there all this time since the game’s launch. But since more and more players are only beginning to notice now, it isn’t a rare occurrence anymore, and the howls are spreading.

The noises of wolves howling can be heard at Dam (as shown in the video), Prison and Quarry. These locations constitute three of the four distinct corners of the Verdansk map. Right now, there’s not much clarity about what these creepy noises could indicate, but some theories are floating around.
What could the howling of wolves in Verdansk indicate?
Many players believe that the wolves might be related to the obscure bunkers in the game. In the video, the howls seem to originate from an actual underground location. This could suggest the arrival of a new play-area in Verdansk.

Some think it could be hinting at the arrival of zombies, although that’s dubious. The involvement of zombies is the most mainstream conclusion for all things Call of Duty. Others have hypothesized the howling could be connected to an antagonist from Modern Warfare, Omar “The Wolf” Sulaman, coming back from dead. Modern Warfare will be adding a new operator soon. She is Iskra, a resident of Urzikstan fighting against Al-Qatala. Both, Iskra and Omar, were formerly affiliated to the Urzikstani Liberation Force, the latter went on to found the terrorist organization Al-Qatala.
Moreover, there is a map of Verdansk on the official Call of Duty: Warzone website, with multiple areas marked as Classified. It turns out some of those areas are in the proximity where the wolves have been howling. Maybe, the bunkers will open soon, and someone or something emerges out of it.
For now, it seems inevitable that something is indeed coming to Warzone. As for exactly how or when it is another question, we’ll have to wait and watch. What do you think the wolves point to? Let us know your opinions below!
