Call of Duty Warzone is one game that is on everyone’s lips these days, be it for the right reason or wrong. Following an immensely successful launch, Infinity Ward has had to work hard to keep their users’ faith. While for the most part they have, certain other issues have proven to be difficult to steer away from. One thing is for sure, Warzone is here to stay for a long time. In a move that will only help in its longevity, Infinity Ward’s studio narrative director, Taylor Kurosaki had delivered some exciting news.

The year 2020 will prove to be a distinct one for the gaming industry. Firstly, gaming has reached unprecedented heights of popularity across the globe because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, its the year when the next-gen consoles from PlayStation and Xbox will launch to change the landscape of the industry.

Call of Duty Warzone on Next-Gen Consoles?

In an interview with GamerGen.com, Kurosaki opened up on Infinity Ward’s plans with Warzone moving forward.

Asked if the developers had anything planned for Warzone on Google Stadia, Kurosaki confirmed they did not. The next question, unsurprisingly, was about their BR title on PS5 and Xbox Series X. The answer to this query was much more positive.

“I know that our plan is Warzone is going to be around for quite some time, so as soon as those new systems are out and available I?m sure we?ll support them.”

Kurosaki did not explicitly spell out if they would port Warzone for the new-age consoles. another option would be to develop newer versions for the new consoles. One thing we do know is it will be playable on them.

It does not come as a surprise that Infinity Ward plan on keeping Call of Duty Warzone around for as long as possible. Battle Royales are all the rage in gaming currently. Moreover, Warzone offers a unique take on the genre with innovative and quirky features. Furthermore, it’s an arcade-style FPS that is bound to keep the game relevant for years to come if they make it compatible with the next-gen consoles.
