The latest addition to the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare, has been remarkably successful. The addition of Warzone by Infinity Ward and Activision stood out the most. But, fans keep on aspiring for more additions to the franchise. They have been playing the Call of Duty games for well over a decade now. Meanwhile, reports of Activision working on a new Call of Duty game for 2020 are broadly prevalent.

Widespread rumors surrounding a remaster for the popular Modern Warfare 2 were common, as it was supposed to launch in as early as 2018. Finally, on March 30 this year, Activision launched MW2 Campaign Remastered for PlayStation, followed by a launch for PC and Xbox on April 30.

Since then, the CoD fanbase has called for the addition of an MW2 remastered multiplayer as well. However, popular CoD leaker, TheGamingRevolution, has an update on this issue.

Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remastered Files Found

TheGamingRevolution is renowned for providing credible information about all things Call of Duty. In his newest YouTube video, he revealed a lot of hints for a multiplayer mode for MW2 remastered. The leaker shared the references to a multiplayer remaster found within the files of the remastered campaign and also shared a ‘leaked’ image by a Twitter user.

Firstly, the famous leaker asserted that the download size for the campaign was 65GB on PC, which is way too large for just the campaign. According to him, the developers accidentally left information related to the multiplayer they were working on within the files of the game.

After that, TheGamingRevolution provided a few images of the game files which contained actual references to the multiplayer. These include “continue to multiplayer,” custom classes, leaderboards, prestiges, XP progression, new camos such as gold, diamond, dark matter, etc.

The YouTuber further shared references to different multiplayer modes, additional weapons, attachments, different perks, and also a season pass. Furthermore, he also shared a multiplayer.exe application found in the game files by another leaker. All of this could indicate that the devs were indeed working on a remaster for the MW2 multiplayer.

TheGamingRevolution also explained some reasons why he thinks the remaster for the multiplayer won’t be coming anytime soon. The fears of splitting the player-base between Modern Warfare and the remastered MW2 multiplayer is one of those reasons. As of now, he is doubtful of a release.
