The beta version of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will be available to those with the early-access in just a few hours. Neither Activision nor Treyarch had commented on the major changes they were rolling out with the beta. The only information that they had made public was the schedule of the beta and the rewards coming along with it.
As a result, many players grew impatient. Without much information available, there were many who couldn’t decide if it was worth investing in the early access. However, the developers have now responded saying,
“To everyone asking what’s changed from Cold War Alpha to Beta, we haven’t been ignoring you. In fact, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to compile it all in a comprehensive format, including some of the thinking behind changes.”

The developers have finally released a blog comprising the ‘Journey from Alpha to Beta.’ Not only does the blog lay out the changes made but also the rationale behind them. The developers want to maintain transparency in the process to enhance the gaming experience of the players. The players will feel connected to the game if they are also a part of the game’s development journey.

Black Ops Cold War alpha version feedback is the core basis of beta improvements
The Treyarch blog states that most of the changes included in the beta have been derived from the player feedback submitted after the alpha. In short, they have made updates to core movement and visual fidelity improvements to weapon tuning and spawn adjustments.
The developers received a lot of complaints about the movement in the alpha version, as it felt ‘clunky.’ Therefore, they have made overall changes to it, including sliding, sprinting, and core movement.

Treyarch has also made significant changes to the weapons and gunsmith. They have fine-tuned a lot of attachments as well as tech and animations.
Another major change that the developers are bringing in is aim assist for controllers since they recognize the role snipers will play in Black Ops Cold War. Additionally, the crossplay feature will introduce a huge skill gap between PC and Consoles. Therefore, Treyarch felt necessary to add aim assist.
Moreover, there will be changes in the audio-visuals including lighting, graphics, footsteps, weapon audio, scorestreak audio. Additionally, the devs have also made changes to the scorestreak system. The idea behind this is to reduce scorestreak spam and make it more rewarding.

Apart from these, there are a ton of bug fixes, UI changes, and spawn changes to enhance the gameplay. The experience of players in the beta will be almost similar to the global release with minor improvements in the global version.
The game will launch globally on November 13. However, there are going to be two beta weekends where players can get a feel of the game before its release. The current one will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 users only. However, the next weekend’s beta will be open for crossplay.
