Nick Kyrgios has had a sad end to a very enthusiastic and cheerful Wimbledon Championships 2021. From a happy singles campaign to a fun mixed doubles partnership with Venus Williams, it has all ended because of an injury. An injury suffered in his third-round match against Felix Auger Aliassime sees him going back home. Kyrgios has now said his goodbyes.
Kyrgios posted an Instagram story of his girlfriend, Chiara Passari, and wrote: “Bye Bye Wimbledon.”?He will now fly back home to recover from what seems to be an abdominal injury.

“I haven?t played this level of tennis in a long time. Playing someone as good as Felix, I needed my main weapon, my serve, to be firing on all cylinders and I felt my ab just at the end of the first set,? said Kyrgios after his match against Felix.

Moreover, this also meant that Kyrgios‘ mixed doubles partnership with Venus Williams has now ended. They very quickly became a popular team and had reached the second round as well. With just one match and several Instagram posts, Kyrgios and Venus were surely trending. From Kyrgios’ search for a mixed doubles partner to Serena Williams feeling left out of the partnership, the mixed doubles team had it all.

“When a point is done, she completely moves on. She doesn?t dwell on anything that?s happened in the past. I guess that?s what?s helped her have so much success. That?s why she?s such a great champion. ?You have to have some people, I believe, that are relatable, that people can bring other fans to watch, like people that are just normal.”

It will be interesting to see where Kyrgios will be seen next. Because of the pandemic, the Australian hasn’t been traveling much however, he is still on the Olympics list. More than that, fans would want to see Venus and Kyrgios playing again. Maybe it could happen at US Open.
