This year, we were supposed to witness the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. However, the games were sadly postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. This has gotten many people to remember the last edition of the event, including British star Andy Murray.

The 2016 Olympics was very special for Andy Murray. He obviously remembers the event as he won his second gold medal there but he also has another reason for his fond memories from there. th

In a recent Instagram story, the British star talked about the event final. He played against Juan Martin Del Potro and said that the post-match hug was one of the best he has ever had.
Del Potro will definitely be glad to hear something so positive, especially now as he is recovering from an injury. The Argentine sustained this injury at the 2019 Queens’ Club Championships and has not played since. This is clearly not fun for him, and something and Murray can relate to.
Back in 2017, the British star sustained a hip injury that ruled him out of tennis for a long time. Now, he has finally recovered well and he is ready to start playing singles’ tennis again at this year’s US Open.

The US Open has suffered many withdrawals over the past few weeks due to the pandemic. Many players do not feel safe about traveling and hence, they’ve withdrawn from the event. Murray was also concerned about traveling but has decided to go ahead and play the tournament.

The British star hasn’t won the US Open since 2012. In fact, he hasn’t won any Grand Slam since 2016. He definitely wants to win one again and he has been preparing well by playing the Battle of the Brits exhibition. Hopefully, he will win his fourth Major title when he plays in New York on August 31.
