The farewell tour of the former doubles World No.1 Bryan brothers is not going exactly as they planned. However, the US twin brothers are planning to push their retirement by one year if there is no tennis until the end of 2020.

The twin brothers from the USA are expected to hang up their racquet at the US Open 2020. However, as the coronavirus continues to sweep through the world, the tennis tour has been suspended until at least July 13.

Moreover, the US Open 2020 has been thrown into doubts after the cancelation of the Rogers Cup 2020, which is one of the major run-up tournaments to the US Open. Consequently, the Bryan brothers may postpone their retirement as the siblings specifically “want to play to the US Open one last time.”

“There is a possibility of playing in 2021” – Bryan Brothers

“It is unfortunate that we didn’t get to say our goodbyes to our fans in Indian Wells and Miami. Now Europe is a wash-out with the cancellation of tournaments through Wimbledon,” Mike Bryan said in an interview with the ATP Tour website.

Mike further revealed their desire to play the US Open one last time and some of the US hard-court tournaments. “We had always said that the US Open would be our last event. But we have just got to wait and see,”  he added.

“If we can’t play another match for the rest of the year, if we can’t play the US Open, then there is a possibility of playing in 2021”, Mike Bryan concluded.
