The moment the world was waiting for is finally here. In a shocking turn of events, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S prices are reportedly leaked. This came at a time when there was little to no indication of a reveal anytime soon.
As reported by Thurrot, the Xbox Series S will cost $299. Writer Brad Sams also wrote “The console is white and based on the image, does not appear to have a disc drive but we don’t fully know that until we get a better side shot of the console. Further, this device appears to look closer to the Xbox One family of devices than the tower of the Series X.”

This is quite different from what people saw before. The console was rumored to be ‘squarish’ in shape since the very beginning. But now it seems Xbox had planned to make it look like the Xbox One S.
But the most interesting thing here was the aggressive pricing of the console. Xbox definitely looked to get the upper-hand over PlayStation here, and it may have just got it. During the PlayStation 5 event, Sony had also mentioned a disc version and a digital-only version of the next-gen console. But, the difference in their prices won’t be that much and they are basically the same consoles.

Apparently, this wasn’t the only price leak that happened. According to Windows Central, The Xbox Series X will be priced at $499 and have a $35/ month Xbox All-access financing option. This is extremely aggressive pricing as far as the ‘console war’ is concerned.
It was always speculated that the next-gen consoles will cost more than their predecessors. But, considering the latest leaks, it seems the speculation was incorrect. This probably turned the tides in favor of Xbox, considering the PlayStation 5 was rumored to cost more than the Series X. The ball is now in Sony’s court and it’ll be interesting to see how they respond to this.
