There’s trouble brewing in Philadelphia’s locker room. It became apparent when AJ Brown acted a bit dejected on the camera after the win against the Carolina Panthers. AJ got fewer reps than usual, and Jalen Hurts wasn’t his usual self either. While some might think that AJ Brown is acting out, there are deeper problems to be unearthed.
Ever since the season opener against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil, Brown’s utility has been on a decline. The last game against the Panthers might have irked Brown because the Philly receiver only had 4 targets to show for it. AJ didn’t hesitate to call out the Eagles’ offense and dumped the blame on the “passing” side of things. That doesn’t sit well with their DE, Brandon Graham.
Graham aired out the Eagles’ dirty laundry on his self-titled podcast. He believes that Jalen Hurts is trying to fix things with AJ Brown. But the receiver doesn’t want to patch it up. The DE also thinks that this supposed beef should stay on a personal level and shouldn’t affect the business side of things.

“The person that’s complaining need to be accountable and I’m just being honest, you know, I’m saying like, and he noticed, you know. I don’t know the whole story, but I know that #1 is trying and, I mean, #11 could be a little better with how he responds to things. And they was friends before this It’s like ‘man.’ But things have changed and I understand that because life happens…” the DE admitted on the Brandon Graham Show.
Talking about the passing game, Jalen Hurts hasn’t thrown for more than 200 yards in each of the last three games. The game against the Panthers was arguably his worst one of the season. The Philly QB only threw for 108 yards but two touchdowns. The thing is, only 4 of his 21 passes were directed to AJ Brown.
Even though Brown had missed three games this season due to his hamstring injury, Hurts hasn’t been dishing out the pigskin to him as much. In the last season, Brown was targeted 96 and scored 6 touchdowns through 10 games. This year, those numbers have been cut in half. Brown has had 48 receptions and 4 touchdowns through 10 games this season.
While everyone is trying to blow this situation out of proportion, Graham thinks that it’s “little nothing,” that can be resolved by just talking it out. At this point, the host of the show, Howard Eskin, wanted to know what Nick Sirianni was doing about this situation.
Is Nick Sirianni helping Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown bury the hatchet?
Before we talk about that, it’s crucial to understand that Brown was visibly upset in the game. He was throwing his helmet around and after the game, admitted that he didn’t have much conversation with Jalen Hurts. That proves the point Brandon Graham is trying to make. The Eagles are 11-2 and there’s simply no time left for these shenanigans.
When asked about Sirianni’s role in fixing all this, Graham simply replied, “I think that they’re doing a good job of that but everybody’s got to be a one party with it.” The DE hopes that the locker room finds its way around the problem.

Nick Sirianni tried to tap dance around the situation when asked about the supposed problems between AJ Brown and Hurts. “A.J. is a great football player that we are always trying to get the ball into his hands,” Sirianni said. “It doesn’t always work.” But this might not be about getting the ball to AJ at all. There’s a problem with aerial attack in general and the head coach addressed it by saying, “It’s no secret that we weren’t up to our standard in that area yesterday,” and that “It’s just going back to work.”
Many people on social media have pointed out that AJ Brown wasn’t talking about Jalen Hurts at all. In fact, he was calling out the offense in general. And it’s not just #11. Apparently, DeVonta Smith is also expressing frustration over how the Eagles’ pass game has been plummeting throughout the season. “Pass game we can be a lot better … We didn’t play up to our standard,” Smith said about the Eagles offense.

The Eagles have won nine games in a row now. But Hurts has been completing only 58%-68% of his passes since the last four games. It’s kind of giving the 2023 vibes when the Eagles somehow sabotaged it and lost the last 5 of 6 games of the regular season. Hopefully, the same doesn’t repeat this season.
