Seeing Crawford nervous in WWE—Does this prove wrestling's intensity even for top athletes?

Former undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford made a surprising appearance during WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown earlier this month. The event took place in Omaha, Nebraska, when ‘Bud’ was spotted in the front row, taking in the show. Later, when Cody Rhodes was about to enter the ring to address the actions of Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline, the action began.

You see, before entering the ring, Rhodes fist-bumped the undefeated boxer. However, just when the WWE star was about to speak, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller dramatically interrupted the show. They were there for action, as they started provoking Rhodes. Despite the disadvantage, the ‘American Nightmare’ challenged the duo, and they sprawled outside the ring.

Luckily, Crawford was right there, and he handed Rhodes a steel chair to even the odds. While this wasn’t the end of action, during Crawford’s appearance in Logan Paul’s podcast, Impaulsive, he revealed he was nervous.

Speaking about the upcoming event where Crawford would headline against Israil Madrimov, which is being seen as the biggest boxing event in recent decades because of the high-profile undercard bouts, Paul asked whether Crawford still gets nervous. Crawford barely ever boasts about his greatness, and he remained down to earth as he spilled the beans.

“I get nervous all the time. I was nervous yesterday,” said Crawford, referring to his debut appearance at WWE SmackDown. He further added that he was nervous during the warm-ups for the event and even during the event, “until I walked out. Once I started walking out, it was like, all right, this [is] your time”. In fact, from the reaction people had, Crawford really didn’t have anything to worry about.

The audience in the arena erupted with cheers, seeing the fellow Nebraska native helping Rhodes, which sent Theory and Waller running back to the locker room. But the night didn’t end there for ‘Bud’! Later in the show, Crawford found himself in a two vs. one situation inside the ring with the same duo.

As they stood in the ring, Waller started barking at Crawford, “Look at me when I’m talking to you. If you take one more step, my boy Austin Theory will knock you out”. Hearing this, Theory closed in on the undefeated boxer but was quickly met with a huge right hand to the jaw, which slept the WWE star. Meanwhile, Waller took this opportunity to weasel out of the ring, allowing Crawford to celebrate his triumph.

As it turns out, even after achieving so much in boxing and fighting so many times in front of the crowd, Terence Crawford still gets nervous. It only means he values the things he does and the things he has done. Would you be nervous if you were in his shoes?
