WWE Monday Night Raw fans are quite aware of the voice announcing the fights! Samantha Irvin was in Philadelphia last Saturday and Sunday for WrestleMania 40, announcing the fight in front of thousands and more at home. However, after announcing some of the fights, her voice cracked as she got emotional while announcing the winner of Night 2’s main event.

Irvin’s emotion reached its peak as she announced Cody Rhodes as the new undisputed WWE Universal Champion. The clip of her emotional delivery instantly started going viral among fans worldwide, catching boxing’s legendary announcer’s eye. So, Michael Buffer hopped on social media to defend her performance from critics.

Michael Buffer hails Samantha Irvin as “just brilliant”

Turning to X (formerly Twitter), Buffer couldn’t stop praising Irvin. Buffer wrote, “Ring announcer Samantha Irvin ruled @WrestleMania last night, & her emotional final announcement was awesome! She was featured on camera-ring center-that was a smart production move, & she was just brilliant! Her timing, pace, drama, [and] energy [were] perfect!”

Scouted by former WWE talent Mark Henry in 2020, Irvin is involved with nearly every WWE brand. Whether its SmackDown or NXT, she is always present ringside to announce the fights. Moreover, the New York Post featured her last year in a profile due to her talent and skills. However, despite Buffer’s kind words, not everyone is happy with Irvin and her performance.

Following Samantha Irvin’s performance in WrestleMania 40, former WWE referee Brian Hebner didn’t hold back his criticism of Irvin’s emotional display. Despite receiving praise from most people in WWE, Hebner wasn’t a fan. So, he hopped on X to express his thoughts about Irvin, and it’s safe to say, it was harsh.

Hebner wrote, “The announcing is driving me insane!! I’m sure [she is] a nice and beautiful person. But her voice and trying to [overdo] things [are] literally making me use my mute button more than I ever have. Like nails on a chalk board! Just like f**k.” It’s worth mentioning that Irvin is a former “America’s Got Talent’ finalist, where she performed as a singer.
