During the 1980s Sylvester Stallone and Hulk Hogan were making waves in their respective fields. Stallone was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars after the success of his film Rocky, while Hogan was the most popular wrestler on the planet. Moreover, the two would even work together for Stallone’s Rocky 3 with Hogan playing the character of Terry Bollea, aka Thunderlips.

However, things would not turn out great for the Hollywood actor, as he once described what it felt like working with the former WWE champion. In an Instagram post back in 2017, Stallone stated that working his stunts with Hogan was no piece of cake. He also praised Hogan for his athletic ability.

“Another flashback and another reason why it’s not such a great idea to always do your own stunts! I met Terry Bollea aka THUNDERLIPS aka HULK HOGAN In the very early 80s when I was directing Rocky III. AT 6 feet 7 and 295 pounds with 24-inch biceps! He was an amazing athlete! Incredibly powerful.” He wrote.

Moreover, he also narrated an incident where he was performing a stunt with Hogan that left him badly injured. In the move, Hogan threw Stallone in the ring’s corner and lept on him, which led to intense pain in his shoulder. “I remember a violent move where he threw me into the corner, charged across the ring like an ENRAGED bull and leaped so amazingly high above me, that his shinbone actually came down like a giant tree on my collarbone, and I tumbled to the floor. I was afraid to look at my shoulder for about 10 minutes. I said “don’t roll me over, don’t move me, ” because I was sure there was bone protruding through my upper chest! Of course, there wasn’t, but I have never felt such a mind-numbing pain from a massive hit before or since that day.” He added.

Following this, Stallone also detailed how 3 stuntmen were hospitalized while working the scene. ” Believe it or not, when he jumped into the audience to fight with the stuntmen, three of them had to be treated at the hospital,” Stallone wrote. Lastly, he thanked Hogan for working with him and called it a privilege to work with the WWE legend. “Great guy, great friend, his presence made the Film very very special. HULK, if you’re reading this, it was a privilege to be mangled by such a gentleman.” he wrote. Despite getting badly injured, Stallone still holds the former WWE champion in very high regard.
