Mike Tyson‘s youngest daughter prefers the tennis racket over boxing gloves. Milan Tyson, 16, looks up to some great names in the sport, including Coco Gauff, with whom she trained a couple of years back. Now, Gauff is in Paris participating in the battle on the court of clay, and most recently appeared on the media day at the Roland Garros court. She even shared pictures of her busy day.
Milan Tyson was excited to see these updates. What did she do? She quickly took to her Instagram stories and shared Gauff’s post, along with a blue heart and a goat emoji. This really shows her willingness to consider the 20-year-old in the same league as one of the greatest in tennis- Serena Williams.
Want to know something interesting here? Well, Milan isn’t the only one who loves Coco Gauff. When the latter was just 15, Mike Tyson was seen training her in boxing. A young Gauff relentlessly hit the punching bag as the pugilist motivated her. He recognized her skills. “Future GOAT 15 year old WTA @CocoGauff Awesome example of kindness, courage and tenacity. Look out for what she does in 2020,” he wrote on X in 2019.

But coming back to Milan, she had once declared enthusiastically, “Djokovic and Serena Williams are my favorites.” This also reflects the change in the current tennis landscape, which Williams has dominated for quite some time. But ever since her calling it quits in 2022, a new generation of female tennis stars has erupted onto the scene, with Gauff being one of them.

When she was only 12, she made headlines as Serena William’s former coach Patrick Mouratoglou took her under his wings. Since then, Mouratoglou has shared several training videos with Milan.
She also perfected her skills under the tutelage of Mike Agassi, father of former tennis star Andre Agassi. But it seems she has a special place for Serena Williams in her heart. In fact, Milan once got mad at her father over the tennis great. What took place?

When ‘Iron Mike’ appeared on his Hotboxin’ Podcast along with American rapper Cordae, he dubbed Naomi Osaka the best player in the world. Cordae and Osaka were dating at the time and Osaka spectacularly defeated Serena Williams in the Australian Open 2021 semifinals. It was Osaka’s 20th win in succession.
However, Williams was in tears later. “The difference today was errors… It was a big error day for me,” she stated. Referring to this match, Mike Tyson picked the Japanese as the best player in the world. But on his podcast, Tyson admitted to Cordae, “I can’t believe my daughter is supposed to be mad at me for being with the most beautiful, the best player in the world.”
The former heavyweight champion has also lauded his daughter and foresees a bright future for her in tennis. He once declared, “She still loves it. Of course, she hits the ball like a savage.” It remains to be seen whether Milan Tyson can find herself on the same level as Coco Gauff. But as once revealed by ‘Iron’ himself, Milan is pretty disciplined and that’s a mark of a great athlete.
