Elon Musk has responded to Mark Zuckerberg‘s “Send me location” call after the chief executive of Meta agreed to Musk’s “cage fight” proposal. However, in his recent and astounding announcement, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX declared that he would not include UFC in the Musk vs. Zuckerberg fight. Musk would rather have a gladiatorial setting of ancient Rome for his fight with the internet entrepreneur, meaning the UFC head honcho misses out on what is slated to be one of the biggest fights of the modern era.

Initially, the duo got in touch with the UFC president Dana White and aimed for an exhibition bout “outside official UFC jurisdiction and rights deals” as reported by the New York Times. But now, following UFC’s unceremonious removal, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions cast his opinion on the potential Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg event. Here is what White’s arch-rival, Oscar De La Hoya said on Twitter following Musk’s intriguing announcement.

It is known that De La Hoya and White have shared bad blood for some time. In the wake of White’s controversy involving his wife, De La Hoya took to Twitter and accused White of being “so greedy” as to match up the “fighter of the night against his WIFE“. On the other hand, when White co-promoted McGregor vs. Mayweather in 2017, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions called the whole event disrespectful to boxing. Undoubtedly, after the $240.7 Billion-worth man announced the exclusion of UFC, De La Hoya had a reason to smirk.

Taking to Twitter, thus, he wrote, “Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg will be the biggest fight in MMA history without the @ufc 50/50 fight“. While De La Hoya contemplates the biggest MMA fight without the UFC, White is currently busy promoting the Luque vs Dos Anjos fight. It appears he seems to relish in the UFC’s missed opportunity, but what exactly does the Tesla CEO have in mind?

A gladiator-style showdown between the tech moguls of our time?

For the uninitiated, Musk announced that the potential MMA match would be managed by “my and Zuck’s foundations“. In addition, the world’s richest man wrote, “Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all.” Additionally, Musk informed the world that he already spoke to the PM of Italy regarding an “epic location” for the fight.

It would appear that Musk sees himself and Zuckerberg as legendary fighters vying for the audience’s raucous cheers. There is no doubt that millions upon millions will tune into a showdown between two of the most influential men on the planet. Celebrity boxing matches have become quite a trend of late, but none of this magnitude and none with MMA-style rules. Stay strapped in folks, we’re about to see two billionaires have a ‘fight to the death’.
